How HBS Units 1 to 3 fit together

Keep useful work. Reuse it in the next lesson.

I am emphasizing Units 1 to 3. This guide helps you find lessons and keep your work connected. Today's Schoology assignment sets the task and due date.

The same route each day

  1. Open today's Schoology assignment. Read what to turn in.
  2. Open the matching portal lesson. Use its named materials and numbered steps.
  3. Keep the work in your unit document. Add the date, activity title and evidence source.
  4. Check your work against today's directions or rubric. Submit the requested work to your own Schoology section.

Use Need help? when you want a smaller step. You do not need to read the entire PLTW activity unless I assign it.

Unit 1: Road to Rehabilitation

How does a body structure help a person move?

Keep one unit document for anatomy diagrams, movement evidence and the assigned fictional patient chart. Keep original practice in a separate, labeled section.

Use the same body structures in your diagrams, movement explanations and final classroom proposal. Add only supplied official case evidence to the patient chart.

Locate and describe

Use shared anatomy terms to label body regions, tissues and bones. Keep the diagrams for later explanations.

Explain movement

Connect the muscle model to joint movement. Keep each observation beside its source, units and limits.

Use the evidence

Reuse the assigned case record to support the classroom rehabilitation proposal. Follow the assigned checklist and teacher review before a demonstration.

How this connects to the full PLTW project

PLTW 1.3.1, Personalized Plans, includes the completed cohort chart and a patient-friendly video. A short plan card alone does not complete that activity.

This overview adds no homework. A practice task supports the official activity but does not mark that activity complete.

Unit 2: Research Ready

How can we use evidence to explain communication in the body?

Keep one unit document with sections for nervous signaling, hormone feedback and research. Reuse your labeled models when you explain a new result.

First explain the signal. Then compare observations. Use that practice to plan a fair investigation and explain what its results can support.

Trace nervous signals

Keep the brain and neuron diagrams. Record reaction-task observations separately from evidence about a drug. Distraction data cannot establish a drug's effect.

Follow hormone feedback

Add to the same endocrine organizer. Keep model predictions separate from measured data. Use the stated units for each graph.

Plan, compare and revise

Carry your question and variables into the plan, evidence table and final explanation. Keep unexpected observations and explain any revision.

How this connects to the full PLTW project

PLTW 2.3.1, Toxic Relationships, includes an investigation and scientific report or approved poster. A plan alone does not show that an investigation took place.

This overview adds no homework. A practice task supports the official activity but does not mark that activity complete.

Unit 3: Adventure Awaits

How do body systems work together during an expedition?

Keep one expedition notebook. Save circulation and breathing diagrams, calculations and protection models with their evidence sources.

Use the circulation and breathing work to explain system interaction. Add protection evidence before you make a supported classroom expedition decision.

Connect the heart and lungs

Trace blood and air along their own routes. Show units and assumptions in calculations. Classroom readings alone do not diagnose a condition.

Explain protection

Keep the immune-cell roles and response diagrams. A paper model explains relationships; it does not supply measured antibody levels or response times.

Apply and explain

Use only the evidence named in today's assignment. Keep the eye presentation separate from the antiviral-data explanation unless today's directions explicitly combine them.

How this connects to the full PLTW project

PLTW 3.3.1, The Expedition, includes a guide, a peer challenge, feedback and revision. Follow the posted checkpoints when this project is assigned.

This overview adds no homework. A practice task supports the official activity but does not mark that activity complete.

Official handouts and missing materials

Choose your section for the PLTW handouts. Keep these official materials inside Schoology.

A PDF may leave out an interactive task, video or case record. Ask me in class, or send me a Schoology message with the missing item's name and activity number. Continue a step that has all its materials. If no step is ready, save your work and ask me what to do next. Do not invent results.

For now, Unit 4 is an introductory survey. Complete only the parts named in its dated assignments. The survey does not represent completion of every Unit 4 activity.
