The most likely explanation is not the first one to check. The one that can kill is. Learn why danger, not probability, sets the order of elimination.

Triage is the worst-first rule applied to a queue of people: vitals pick who cannot wait, and arrival order stops mattering.

Step 1: Vitals rank the queue
The bands from rung 2 become a sorting key. A vital far outside its band, in a resting patient, is a claim on the next available minute.
Step 2: Know the hard thresholds
An oxygen saturation under 90 percent means tissues are running short right now and is treated as urgent on its face.
Step 3: Visible is not the same as urgent
A dramatic-looking injury with steady vitals can wait behind a quiet patient whose numbers are failing.
